Tiny Hanzi is an independent app. This page explains what it stores about you and why. Short version: only what the app needs to keep your learning plan and progress, never sold, never used for advertising.

What we store

Your account. When you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we receive an account identifier and, if you share it, your email address. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real address.

Your learning data. Your answers to the setup questions (level, goals, topics, how you found us, optional age range), your settings, which words you have studied and how well you know them, saved words and your daily streak. This is what lets your progress follow you to a new phone.

Things you send us. Feedback, reports about a word or sentence, and the reasons you give if you delete your account.

What we don't do

No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing of your data with data brokers. Tiny Hanzi does not ask for your contacts, location, photos or microphone.

Who processes it

Account and learning data are stored with Supabase (database and sign-in). Subscriptions are handled by Apple and Google; we use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active, which receives your account ID and purchase receipts. We use PostHog for product analytics: which screens and features are used (for example, finishing the setup questions or rating a word), linked to your account ID, so we can see what helps people learn and fix what doesn't. Analytics are never used for advertising or shared with advertisers. We never see your payment details. Pronunciation uses your device's built-in voice.

Widgets and notifications

Widgets read the day's words from storage on your phone. Daily sentence and story reminders are scheduled on your phone; no push server is involved.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. A subscription is separate; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Children

Tiny Hanzi is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
